Transform your work from home space!

With the majority of the corporate world returning to work, a lot of us are waving goodbye to our temporary home offices. But for those who will be continuing to work from home, an ideal workstation may be your saving grace! We’ve compiled a list of savvy decorating tips and hacks to enhance your workstation while you’re stuck indoors. Read on to find out more.

Choose your workspace wisely First, you need to pick an area for you to work in, choose a room or little nook in your house with adequate space, but make sure it isn’t your bed! You need a workstation that will mimic your regular office space. A separate room will be ideal as it will help you shut out unnecessary noise and distraction from those living at home with you.

Equip your workspace well

You’re going to need adequate access to cable extensions, chargers, stationery and other necessities to function at optimal levels of productivity. Make sure that your workstation is not too far away from your wifi connection and remember that you’re going to want to have plenty of light and a cool environment to work in. A hot environment with poor lighting and low telecommunication signals can cause you unnecessary frustration.

Customize it as you wish Are your floors white? Are your walls also white? Maybe you need a pop of colour on your workstation to entice you to sit at it and start working! Think contrasting colours; there are many DIY hacks online that are virtually free and extremely easy. Minimalist workspaces can mimic a clear mind and help you declutter your thoughts. Don’t underestimate the power of a streamlined design to help create the aura of relaxation. Harmonise your tiles near your workspace by repurposing an old rug! You can dye it at home and bring in a little bit of colour with just a little bit of time and effort.

Cleanliness and hygiene is a top priority

No matter how perfectly you’ve planned your workspace and accessorized it, a clean workspace trumps everything else. Make sure to dust your workspace regularly and wipe down surfaces with antibacterial wipes. Disinfect your flooring whilst remembering to open windows to allow fresh air to circulate throughout the room. Wet wipes, tissues, hand sanitizer, are desktop essentials! Always keep these at hand for emergencies. To further freshen up your environment, a simple candle or diffuser can make a tremendous difference! Tea tree oil and lavender essential oil diffusers are great antibacterial and calming aromatic options that will keep your room smelling fresh all day long.
